Limit STR’s
We keep hearing “oh, you moved to a resort, what did you expect?” Just because we are considered a resort doesn’t mean we have to give up our community. If you look at all of the other resorts, and tourist areas around the country that have faced this issue sooner, rather than later, they have overwhelmingly found solutions that limit short term rentals.
Here are some of the ways STR’s have been limited:
Limit on number of days of operation.
Limit STR’s to hosted rentals to a primary residence where the owner is living on the property.
Limit STR’s to areas zoned for tourist activity (the Tahoe Area Plan already has zones designated “Tourist”).
Other restrictions, like requiring a minimum distance between STR’s.
