TEAM PLAYERS?

A public records request contained minutes of the District’s Snowflake Lodge Needs Assessment team consisting of SE Group staff, IVGID staff, the Capital Improvement Committee and 2 trustees. Those attending included Trustees Mick Homan and David Noble. The minutes reveal only 3 scenarios had been developed, not 4. An “Open House” specifically on the Snowflake Lodge Needs Assessment was originally planned for December, but then deferred until February. No open house was held.
Open houses are occasionally held to provide a better format for citizens to ask questions and the District to inform them.
Open meeting laws prohibit such interchange at Board meetings. Only items on the agenda can be discussed.
For some reason the February open house was cancelled. Nevertheless, 4 project scenarios for the Diamond Peak Lodge/lift replacement developed by the team were presented to the Board with little fanfare back in March. In April the Board directed staff to develop an RFQ for an architect.
An open house on a wide variety of IVGID topics, including the DP projects, was held in late August, however, any public input was never discussed by the Board before awarding the 30% design contract for an 11,600 sq. ft Snowflake Lodge at the September 9, 2026 meeting. Well over a million dollars has already been committed to developing this option.
When will those paying the bills, our residents and property owners, be part of this team?
