The candidate behind the mask

Update: Mr. Brooks finally filed his Financial Disclosure statement today, 10/15/26 with no explanation as to why it was nearly 7 months late. We could have accepted that it was just inadvertent, but combined with his statements at the candidate forum that contained no mention of his work history, it appears he did not want to share that he has been employed as a lobbyist for a billboard/media company.
I went to the IVGID Board meeting yesterday. I noticed IVGID trustee candidate Ryan Brooks was present, so I hoped he could clarify some statements made at the candidate forum. In his opening remarks at the candidate forum he gave a long list of committees that made it sound like he had a long career in government, but no mention of actual employment.
I had learned he has been employed for many years by an outdoor sign/media firm and is now listed as its government relations VP. He is also listed as a registered lobbyist in California.
I also was curious why he was the only candidate who had not filed the required Financial Disclosure Statement, according to the Secretary of State’s Aurora website. I had asked if he would make public comment and perhaps tell us if he was exempt from this filing. He did not make any public comment. In fact, I have never heard him make public comment.
Mr. Brooks needs to take off his mask and provide information on his sources of income, that is required of all candidates, as well as his employment history. We should expect no less from anyone who runs for public office.
